Setting up a TRC20 wallet is straightforward. Follow these steps to create a fully functional TRON wallet address ready to send and receive USDT-TRC20 and TRX.
Step 1 – Download a Trusted TRC20 Wallet App
Choose a non-custodial wallet that supports the TRON network. Download only from the official app store (iOS App Store or Google Play) or the wallet's official website to avoid counterfeit apps. Verify the developer name and check recent reviews before installing.
Step 2 – Create a New Wallet
Open the app and select "Create New Wallet." The app generates a unique private key and derives your TRC20 wallet address from it. Your wallet address will start with the letter "T" — this is the identifier you share when receiving TRC20 tokens.
Step 3 – Back Up Your Recovery Phrase
This is the most critical step. The app will display a 12-word or 24-word seed phrase. Write every word down in the exact order shown and store this backup in a secure offline location such as a fireproof safe.
Never store your seed phrase digitally — not in photos, cloud storage, email, or note-taking apps. Anyone who obtains your seed phrase has full access to all your funds.
Step 4 – Secure Your Wallet
Enable all available security features:
- Set a strong PIN or password to lock the app.
- Enable biometric authentication (fingerprint or Face ID) for quick and secure access.
- Turn on transaction confirmation prompts to review each transfer before signing.
Step 5 – Receive Your TRC20 Address
Navigate to the TRON or USDT section of the wallet and tap "Receive." Your TRC20 address and QR code will appear. Share this address — or let the sender scan the QR code — to receive USDT-TRC20 or TRX directly to your wallet.
Important: Always Select the Correct Network
When sending or receiving USDT, always confirm the network is TRC20 (TRON). Sending USDT-ERC20 to a TRC20 address results in permanent loss of funds. Before any transfer, verify:
- Token: USDT
- Network: TRC20 (TRON)
- Address format: starts with "T"
